UP alumnus JD Cagulangan joins Suwon KT Sonicboom in South Korea

University of the Philippines alumnus JD Cagulangan has landed in South Korea to join the Suwon KT Sonicboom team.

Cagulangan made his debut on Saturday, contributing seven points, nine assists, five steals, and four rebounds in 22 minutes of play against Seoul Samsung Thunder, but his team lost with a score of 78-64.

Despite the loss, Cagulangan expressed gratitude for this 'once-in-a-lifetime opportunity' to play abroad and emphasized the importance of options for Filipino players looking to pursue their careers overseas.

Meanwhile, UAAP two-time Most Valuable Player Kevin Quiambao also arrived in Korea for his upcoming stint with the Sono Skygunners, expressing excitement about the new chapter of his professional career.

The two players and their respective collegiate teams faced off in the UAAP Season 87 men's basketball finals last December, where Cagulangan and the UP Fighting Maroons defeated Quiambao and the De La Salle University Green Archers in a three-game series.
