Duterte orders China-wide travel ban amid nCoV threat

President Rodrigo Duterte has decided to implement a temporary travel ban on all travelers coming from mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau due to the novel coronavirus threat.

Senator Bong Go announced this decision during an interview on Sunday morning, emphasizing that it is an additional precautionary measure to protect Filipinos.

On Saturday, Senator Koko Pimentel urged a complete travel ban on all of China instead of just affected areas, citing concerns about residents from Wuhan moving to other cities and slipping past restrictions.

However, earlier on Thursday, Senator Bong Go stated that it would be improper to single out China for the travel ban as the virus has affected other countries too.
