House panel probes repatriation issues of stranded OFWs

On Friday, the House Committee on Public Accounts will conduct an inquiry into the repatriation issues faced by stranded overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The committee, chaired by Rep. Mike Defensor, aims to address problems and find solutions for OFWs who have lost their jobs and are still stranded abroad or in areas outside their hometowns.

Invited officials from DOLE, OWWA, DFA, DOT, as well as some ambassadors assigned to the Middle East and OFW representatives will attend the hearing.
