House holds first out-of-town session in Batangas for Taal victims

The House of Representatives held its first out-of-town plenary session at the Batangas City Convention Center on January 22, 2020, to listen to the needs and concerns of Taal Volcano eruption victims.

Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano emphasized the House's commitment to hearing the plight of those affected despite the risks involved.

The session was delayed by about 35 minutes due to late arrivals of lawmakers, but it proceeded with guest speakers including local government officials addressing the House.

Lawmakers also discussed passing a bill for the creation of a Department of Disaster Resilience during the session.
