House cites Bamban mayor in contempt for lying during questioning

The House of Representatives Quad Committee cited dismissed Bamban Mayor Alice Guo in contempt on Thursday for allegedly lying and being evasive during questioning.

Abang Lingkod party-list Representative Joseph Stephen Paduano moved to cite Guo in contempt after she repeatedly invoked her right to self-incrimination, leading the committee to approve both motions without objection.

Paduano claimed that Guo deliberately avoided bailing out to remain detained at the PNP Custodial Center, despite having billions of pesos in assets.

Antipolo 2nd District Rep. Romeo Acop called out Guo for making a 'mockery' of Filipinos by invoking her right against self-incrimination inconsistently.

The investigation revealed that Guo is indeed a Chinese national who exploited loopholes in Philippine legal and identification systems to set up businesses linked to illegal syndicates, including human trafficking and money laundering.
