House lawmakers prep VP Sara Duterte's impeachment

Lawmakers in the House of Representatives are preparing for impeachment proceedings against Vice President Sara Duterte, with a meeting called to discuss the three existing complaints.

ACT Teachers party-list Rep. France Castro says that while she was not invited to the meeting, she heard from other officials that it involves preparations for the impeachment process.

Progressive group Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan) supports an immediate transmittal of the impeachment complaints to the Senate, citing they have been languishing in Velasco's office since December 2024.

The Constitution provides a quicker method for forwarding impeachment complaints if one-third of all House members endorse them, bypassing committee review and speeding up the process.

House officials expect to gather more than 103 signatures, which is required to fast-track the complaint to the Senate.
