Hontiveros questions Guo’s ties with criminals in Senate hearing

Senator Risa Hontiveros raised further questions about Bamban Mayor Alice Guo's ties with criminals, citing SEC documents from 2019 that named Guo alongside convicted money launderer Zhang Ruijin and others.

During a Senate committee hearing on Wednesday, Guo testified that she only learned of the criminal records of her foreign business partners through Hontiveros' Facebook post on Tuesday.

Hontiveros disclosed that Zhiyang Huang and Baoying Lin, other incorporators in the SEC documents, have criminal charges associated with them.

Guo admitted knowing only Zhiyang Huang among her co-incorporators and claimed she was unaware of their backgrounds prior to seeing Hontiveros' social media post.

Hontiveros criticized Guo for not conducting due diligence before entering into such a large business venture, questioning how she could be unaware of her partners' criminal records.

The Senate panel continues its investigation into the matter and GMA News Online has yet to receive a response from Guo's office regarding these allegations.
