Cignal secures No. 3 PVL seed despite losses

Vanie Gandler credits teamwork for Cignal's success in securing the No. 3 seed ahead of the qualifying round of the 2024-25 PVL All-Filipino Conference despite losing key players Riri Meneses and Ces Molina earlier this year.

Gandler led Cignal to a sweep over Akari with 15 points, bringing their first-round record to an 8-3 win-streak on Tuesday at Philsports Arena.

Despite the squad being short-handed, Gandler praised her teammates' efforts in filling the gaps and stepping up during challenging times, emphasizing that teamwork has been crucial.

The outside spiker highlighted rookie Ishie Lalongisip's significant contributions, noting her 13.8-point average over six games.

Coach Shaq Delos Santos expressed happiness with their No. 3 seed finish and noted the team's ability to adapt and improve under challenging circumstances.

With an 8-3 record, Cignal now awaits who finishes as the No. 10 squad in order to battle for a top-six berth and play in a best-of-three series.
