Lorenzana: Health workers priority in official vaccine rollout

Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana stated that all remaining units of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) will wait for the official rollout of the coronavirus vaccine by the government before getting vaccinated.

Lorenzana emphasized the need to follow procedures set by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), stressing that vaccines, medicines, and food are critical items requiring proper regulation.

Health workers remain a priority in the official vaccine rollout expected to begin as early as May next year.

The defense secretary also noted that the unregistered vaccine used on Presidential Security Group (PSG) personnel was insufficient to cover medical frontliners, leading to complaints about prioritizing soldiers over healthcare workers.
