Bong Go urges GSIS to ease burden on members amid COVID-19

Senator Bong Go, chair of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, is urging the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) to ease the burden on its members during the COVID-19 crisis.

Go requested GSIS to waive penalties for delayed remittances, release pensions early, and grant emergency loans.

He emphasized that due to community quarantine measures, many government finance units are facing difficulties in operations, making it harder for GSIS members to make timely payments.

Go also suggested releasing pensions earlier given the higher fatality rate among elderly COVID-19 patients, urging support to help retirees prepare against the disease.
