Philippines signs deals for 55M COVID-19 vaccine doses

The Philippines has signed an agreement with Sinovac to secure 25 million doses of the CoronaVac vaccine.

An initial batch of 50,000 doses is expected in February, followed by 950,000 more doses in March.

Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. praised Sinovac for providing definite monthly delivery dates.

The government also plans to sign contracts with AstraZeneca and Moderna for an additional 30 million vaccine doses.

Galvez confirmed that the deal with AstraZeneca will be signed on Thursday, adding to previous agreements with Novavax and AstraZeneca through local governments and private corporations.
