Gov't extends special COVID-19 vax drives in April

The government vaccinated over 90,000 individuals during special vaccination days from March 29 to 31 in Cebu province, Davao Region, and Cotabato City.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire reported that 60% of the target population was covered during these drives.

Vaccine hesitancy remains a significant barrier to higher vaccination rates, particularly in areas like the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao and Cotabato City.

The DOH plans to deploy social mobilizers for intensive community engagement to boost vaccine uptake.

NVOC chairperson Dr. Myrna Cabotaje announced that special vaccination days will continue in April to target regions with low coverage.
