Barangay Ginebra clinches quarterfinals spot with record-breaking win over Rain or Shine

Barangay Ginebra secured a spot in the PBA Commissioner's Cup quarterfinals with a dominant 120-92 victory over Rain or Shine Elasto Painters at the Ynares Center on Wednesday, extending their record streak of playoff appearances to 47 consecutive conferences.

Justin Brownlee led Barangay Ginebra with 29 points, 13 rebounds, six assists, one steal and one block, while Scottie Thompson contributed 22 points and eight assists.

Head coach Tim Cone said the game was 'one of those games where everything came together,' noting strong defensive play and efficient offense; Rain or Shine shot just 40.2% from the field compared to Ginebra's 52.8%.

Rain or Shine, led by Deon Thompson with 23 points and 15 rebounds, fell short despite a brief comeback attempt; Ginebra improved their record to 7-4 in the Commissioner's Cup.

Ginebra faces Meralco Bolts on January 29 for their final elimination round game while Rain or Shine takes on NLEX on Saturday.
