Ginebra secures PBA Finals spot, faces TNT in rematch of 2023 finals

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel secured their spot in the PBA Finals after defeating San Miguel Beermen with a 102-99 victory in Game 6 of the Governors' Cup semifinals on Sunday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Maverick Ahanmisi led Ginebra with a team-high 25 points, while Japeth Aguilar contributed 20 points and six rebounds, and RJ Abarrientos added 16 points along with six assists.

Coach Tim Cone praised the team's depth and resilience despite key players like Justin Brownlee having an off night. Ginebra will face Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and TNT Tropang Giga in the Best-of-7 Finals series, which begins on Sunday, October 27 at Ynares Center in Antipolo.

The championship series marks a rematch of the 2023 finals won by TNT. The first three games will be held at Smart Araneta Coliseum with Game 3 scheduled for November 1, coincidentally falling on All Saints' Day.

Games 5 and 6, if necessary, will also take place at 'The Big Dome', while Game 7 is set for Nov. 10 at Ynares Center.
