Abarrientos scores 28 points, key in Ginebra's semifinals win

RJ Abarrientos, the third overall pick in the PBA Season 49 Rookie Draft for Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, continues to make a strong impression with his performance in high-stakes games.

Abarrientos has averaged 18.3 points over three matches during the semifinals series against San Miguel Beermen, contributing significantly to Ginebra's victory and earning the PBA Press Corps Player of the Week citation for the period Oct. 16 to 20.

Despite his individual success, Abarrientos emphasizes the importance of supporting team superstar Justin Brownlee and acknowledges the trust placed in him by coaches Tim Cone and others.

In Game 5 of the semifinals tiebreaker series with San Miguel Beermen on Friday, Abarrientos scored a new PBA high of 28 points, helping Ginebra secure a decisive victory.

Abarrientos' overseas experience in South Korea and Japan has honed his skills and basketball IQ, making him a valuable asset to the team as they prepare for their finals rematch with TNT Tropang Giga.
