Gilas Pilipinas Women rise to no. 39 in FIBA rankings

The Gilas Pilipinas Women national basketball team has climbed five spots to rank at no. 39 globally in the latest FIBA world rankings.

This significant improvement comes just a month after their performance in the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup in China, where they finished sixth overall.

Led by veteran center Jack Animam and featuring young talents like Naomi Panganiban and Sumayah Sugapong, the team secured their Division A status with a narrow victory against Lebanon.

Despite losing to South Korea in the qualification round for semifinals, the squad demonstrated promising progress under head coach Patrick Aquino.

With this momentum, Gilas Pilipinas Women aims to reclaim the gold medal at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand this December.
