Tall Blacks led by Webster face Gilas Pilipinas

New Zealand's Tall Blacks, featuring veteran player Corey Webster and a roster of young talent, are set to face Gilas Pilipinas on Thursday in the FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

Eight years ago, Mr. Webster averaged 21.7 points per game when New Zealand played against the Philippines during the FIBA World Olympic Qualifying Tournament.

Webster, now 35 and an NBA veteran, is expected to be a key threat for Gilas Pilipinas under new coach Judd Flavell due to his scoring prowess and experience playing in Manila.

Philippine coach Tim Cone anticipates high energy from New Zealand's team as they play their first game together in this qualifier and emphasizes the importance of focusing on Webster’s performance.

New Zealand's roster includes promising young players like Tyrell Harrison, Sam Mennenga, Sam Waardenburg, Flynn Cameron, Izayah Le'afa, Max Darling, and Hyrum Harris, who are gaining recognition in Australian basketball leagues.
