Philippines eyes buying Moderna booster shots

The Philippines is considering purchasing booster shots from Moderna Inc., a U.S.-based biotech company.

Moderna is conducting clinical trials for a booster shot that can be used regardless of initial vaccine brand.

Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. said the government might buy 5 million booster doses instead of 20 million vaccine doses already reserved.

Galvez added that Moderna's booster shots could arrive in September or October, potentially providing additional immunity for those who received different brands like Sinovac or Gamaleya.
