DOH, Galvez inspect cold storage facilities for vaccine rollout

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III and vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. inspected cold storage facilities at Zuellig Pharma, Unilab, and RITM on Wednesday to ensure readiness for the upcoming vaccine rollout.

Zuellig Pharma's cold rooms can hold up to 650 million doses of vaccines across various temperature ranges required for different manufacturers' vaccines.

Duque stated that there is adequate cold storage capacity across the necessary temperature ranges (+2°C to +8°C, -30°C, and -70°C to -80°C) for storing incoming vaccines.

Unilab's facility in Biñan, Laguna has a 2°C to 8°C cold room capable of accommodating up to five million doses with advanced alarm systems and transportation capabilities.

Galvez and Duque emphasized the need for formal agreements with private companies before vaccine arrival.
