Fisherfolks turn over 15 kg shabu worth PHP102M to PDEA

Fisherfolks in Cagayan have turned over additional plastic packages containing 15 kilograms of shabu worth PHP102 million to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).

The drugs were discovered floating between Babuyan Island and Gonzaga, as well as a smaller find off Camiguin Island and Cape Engaño waters.

Fishermen promptly surrendered the contraband to PDEA Regional Office 2 and local police units, highlighting their role in curbing drug trafficking.

PDEA Director General Isagani Nerez praised these efforts and noted that heightened vigilance is crucial for coastal security against drug smuggling.

An additional kilogram of shabu worth PHP6.8 million was found washed ashore in Barangay Pasaleng, Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte on Monday.

An in-depth investigation is underway to determine the origin of these recovered drugs, which were concealed inside gold teabags.
