Fisherfolk recover PHP10.4B worth of shabu across regions

Fisherfolk across various regions, including Ilocos Norte, Zambales, Bataan, Ilocos Sur, Pangasinan, and Cagayan, have recovered a total of PHP10.4 billion worth of shabu over the past week.

On Monday morning, a fisherman in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte found one kilogram of suspected 'shabu' floating off the coast with an estimated street value of PHP6.8 million.

Two days earlier, approximately one kilogram of 'floating shabu' worth P6.8 million was recovered in the waters off Sitio Narvacan, Bgy. Dilam, Calayan, Cagayan, and another pack worth P5.1 million was surrendered at Sitio Mingay, Bgy. San Juan, Sta. Praxedes, Cagayan.

PDEA Director General Isagani Nerez emphasized the importance of inter-agency collaboration and public vigilance in combating drug smuggling activities, praising fisherfolks for their honesty and courage in turning over suspected shabu finds.

Authorities are intensifying surveillance and maritime patrols in Northern Luzon to deter the entry of illegal drugs using the country's coastlines.
