Filipinos abroad infected rise to 12,996

The total number of overseas Filipinos infected with COVID-19 has risen to 12,996 as of January 5.

Of these cases, 8,430 have recovered while 934 have died, leaving 3,632 patients still receiving treatment.

As of the latest update, the Middle East/Africa region continues to report the highest number of infections with 7,712 cases, including 4,690 recoveries and 601 deaths.

In Asia Pacific, there are 2,708 confirmed cases with 1,877 recoveries and 21 fatalities.

Europe has recorded 1,772 cases, including 1,329 recoveries and 118 deaths, while the Americas have seen 782 cases, with 526 recoveries and 194 deaths.
