Filipino skier Laetaz Rabe finishes last in Winter Asian Games slopestyle event

Filipino freestyle skier Laetaz Amihan Rabe finished last in the women's freeski slopestyle event at the 9th Winter Asian Games on Tuesday, Feb. 11.

Rabe, a 15-year-old athlete from Geneva who scored 56.50 points for fifth place in her first run but did not improve in subsequent runs, remained upbeat despite her performance.

Chinese skiers Liu Mengteng, Yang Ruyi, and Han Linshan won gold, silver, and bronze medals with scores of 94.00, 90.50, and 87.00 points respectively.

Despite finishing last, Rabe remains a promising athlete who was the flag-bearer during the 2024 Winter Youth Olympics opening ceremony in South Korea and expressed pride in her performance despite not improving on her initial score of 56.50 points.

Rabe's father hails from Cotabato City and her mother from Malolos, Bulacan; she noted significant progress and a valuable experience from the competition.
