Labella orders aid for VSMMC patients' watchers barred from hospital

Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella ordered immediate assistance for watchers of patients at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) who were barred from staying inside due to COVID-19 safety measures.

The city government allowed the watchers to temporarily stay at Fuente Osmeña Rotunda after they camped outside the hospital building.

Since June 9, VSMMC has strictly implemented a 'no watchers and visitors' policy as a protective measure against coronavirus transmission.

As of July 21, VSMMC had 97 COVID-19 patient admissions and is also a national sublaboratory for COVID-19.
