Ambassador appeals for DOLE aid for Filipino workers in Turkey

Philippine Ambassador Raul Hernandez appealed for cash and food aid for Filipino workers in Turkey affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hernandez requested that the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) include Turkish-based OFWs in its P10,000 one-time financial assistance program.

He noted that some OFWs are employed under a 'no work, no pay' scheme and embassy staff have been providing food packs to support them.

Hernandez also stated that the embassy is ready to assist distressed Filipinos who wish to return to the Philippines.
