Eala faces WTA No. 17 Krejcikova at Wimbledon

Filipino tennis player Alex Eala, who recently set a new career-high world ranking of No. 56 in the Women's Tennis Association (WTA), has arrived at Wimbledon where she will face defending champion Barbora Krejcikova on Tuesday.

Eala is excited to compete on Centre Court for her main draw debut against Krejcikova, with confidence bolstered by the guidance and training of her coach Lluc Bauzà, fitness and medical director of the Rafa Nadal Academy.

Bauzà has overseen Eala's physical development since 2023, resulting in improved endurance and movement that turned heads at tournaments like Miami earlier this year and Eastbourne last week.

Despite narrowly losing to Maya Joint of Australia in the Eastbourne Open final on Saturday night, Eala traveled straight to London for a light recovery session on Sunday, focusing on feeling the ball without pressure or tension.

Krejcikova, now ranked World No. 17 and recovering from a thigh injury, acknowledges Eala's strong performance this year but remains optimistic about her form as she prepares for the match.
