Duterte orders Calida to request COA audit of PRC

President Rodrigo Duterte has instructed Solicitor General Jose Calida to request Commission on Audit (COA) Chair Michael Aguinaldo to audit the Philippine Red Cross (PRC).

Duterte renewed his call for an immediate audit, citing concerns over the use of funds and allegations of overpricing in pandemic-related procurements.

The PRC is led by Senator Richard Gordon, who chairs the Senate Blue Ribbon committee investigating these issues.

Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra clarified that public funds received by NGOs like the Red Cross can be audited by COA under constitutional mandate.
