Drilon: Cash aid preferred for NCR Plus beneficiaries

Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon suggested providing cash assistance instead of goods to low-income beneficiaries in the NCR Plus area under new COVID-19 restrictions.

Drilon expressed concern that recipients might sell food and non-food items rather than using them.

President Duterte approved a P22.9 billion program for 22.9 million individuals, with Budget Secretary Avisado stating each person would receive P1,000 worth of goods.

The assistance will be distributed by local government units in Metro Manila, Rizal, Bulacan, Cavite, and Laguna.
