Duterte hikes fuel subsidy for poor families to P500

President Rodrigo Duterte increased the monthly fuel subsidy for poor Filipino families from PHP200 to PHP500.

The governor of Negros Occidental welcomed the increase, though noting that the budget constraints limit the amount.

Duterte said he received feedback indicating that PHP200 was insufficient to support a family of three to five members.

He instructed Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III to implement this higher subsidy.

Lacson noted that the Department of Social Welfare and Development typically identifies recipients, but no directive has been issued yet.
