Duterte arrives in The Hague for ICC custody

Former President Rodrigo Duterte departed Manila on Tuesday via chartered jet and arrived in Dubai for a layover before flying to Rotterdam The Hague Airport.

Duterte faces charges of crimes against humanity at the International Criminal Court (ICC) related to his anti-illegal drugs campaign and was arrested upon arrival in Manila, subsequently flown directly to The Hague.

Vice President Sara Duterte arrived in Amsterdam early Thursday morning (Manila time) to support her father, who is now under ICC custody after landing in Rotterdam on Wednesday night.

Sara Duterte will proceed to The Hague from Amsterdam an hour's drive away and is expected to meet with lawyers and seek access to her father on March 13.

The former president assured supporters that he is 'okay' and pledged to continue serving his country regardless of the legal proceedings, while Vice President Sara thanked Filipinos for their support during this difficult time.
