Ombudsman probes DOH over COVID-19 response

Ombudsman Samuel Martires has ordered an investigation into the Department of Health (DOH) and its handling of the COVID-19 response.

Martires claims DOH officials have been uncooperative during the probe, giving probers the runaround when seeking data and documents.

The Ombudsman will issue subpoenas to the DOH and Department of Budget and Management, suspecting that there are hidden documents or information.

DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire says personnel are doing their best despite being affected by the investigation.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque remains confident in Health Secretary Francisco Duque III's ability to defend himself against allegations.
