The DSWD is implementing social amelioration measures for vulnerable sectors affected by the enhanced community quarantine due to the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), including providing PHP5,000 to PHP8,000 worth of assistance per month for two months.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) is preparing social amelioration measures for vulnerable sectors affected by the enhanced community quarantine due to the coronavirus disease (Covid-19). These measures include providing food, non-food items, and financial assistance amounting to PHP5,000 to PHP8,000 per month for two months as mandated by Republic Act 11469 or the 'Bayanihan to Heal as One Act'.

The provision of these benefits is based on regional minimum wage levels, approximating the cost needed to buy basic food, medicine, and hygiene essentials. The assistance will be given in cash and kind by various national government agencies.

In addition to this, DSWD's Technical Assistance and Resource Augmentation (TARA) program provides local government units with FNFI to address the food needs of their constituents. The Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) also offers financial assistance for basic needs.

The DSWD expects to distribute these benefits starting early April, through local government units which will prepare and endorse lists of beneficiaries to the regional office. Beneficiaries include families under the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program and Unconditional Cash Transfer program who will receive augmented grants and rice subsidies.
