DSWD distributes PHP758,070 aid to volcano-affected families

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) distributed PHP758,070 worth of assistance to families affected by the June 3 Mt. Kanlaon volcano eruption.

In Negros Occidental, DSWD's Field Office in Western Visayas provided PHP611,980 in aid, while the Field Office in Central Visayas gave away PHP146,090 worth of assistance to affected families in Negros Oriental.

DSWD is supporting local government units by monitoring 426 displaced families and 1,414 individuals temporarily housed in evacuation centers across both provinces.

To support children's well-being during the crisis, DSWD has set up child-friendly and women-friendly spaces offering activities such as psychosocial counseling, games, educational activities, art therapy sessions, and supplementary feeding.

The DSWD Western Visayas field office conducted psychosocial activities among children and youth-evacuees of Mt. Kanlaon eruption, prioritizing the well-being of affected families inside the evacuation centers.
