DOTr urges NLEX to waive toll fees during Marilao bridge repairs

DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon urged NLEX Corporation to waive toll fees for motorists traversing Balintawak to Marilao while repairs on the damaged interchange bridge are underway.

NLEX Corp., in response to Dizon's call, is waiving toll fees starting Monday, March 24 at 12 pm until all four lanes of the Marilao northbound area are reopened.

The company temporarily closed two northbound lanes at Marilao Interchange Bridge due to damage caused by a collision involving an 18-wheeler truck and a tanker truck on Wednesday morning and will close additional portions of the lane starting Monday, March 24 until Friday, March 28 for safety repairs.

NLEX has added one lane for a total of three now operational along the affected segment and expects to reopen all four lanes by 11 pm on Friday, faster than the initial estimate of two weeks.

The company is considering legal action against the drivers involved in the accident to recover millions of pesos in repair costs.
