DOT asks DILG to boost security at tourist sites after Slovak tourist’s death in Boracay

The Department of Tourism has requested the Department of the Interior and Local Government to implement immediate security measures in key tourist destinations following the death of a Slovak tourist in Boracay Island.

A 23-year-old female tourist, Michaela Mickova, was found dead in an abandoned chapel on Wednesday.

In response, the DOT condemned any acts that threaten tourists' safety and reiterated its commitment to maintaining a secure environment for travelers.

The agency emphasized that the well-being of all visitors is their top priority and will take necessary steps based on the investigation's findings.

Police are currently investigating the incident, and the DOT awaits official results while reaffirming its dedication to preserving Boracay's reputation as a premier destination.
