DOLE allocates PHP300M for Rolly-hit areas' employment

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) plans to hire about 5,000 workers in Catanduanes for cleanup and repairs following Super Typhoon Rolly.

Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said DOLE will pay the minimum wage to these workers who will work for 15 days.

The TUPAD program, aimed at informal sector workers such as sidewalk vendors and tricycle drivers, will also be implemented in Albay.

DOLE has allocated over PHP300 million for emergency employment assistance in three regions affected by Rolly: Bicol Region (PHP200M), Calabarzon (PHP33M), and Mimaropa (PHP73M).

Each province will hire 5,000 workers under the TUPAD program.
