DOH: No wastage of AstraZeneca vaccines despite May expiry

Health Undersecretary Ma. Rosario Vergeire assured that no AstraZeneca vaccines will be wasted despite their expiry in May.

Vergeire confirmed that over 500,000 doses received through COVAX Facility are expiring by the end of May and a strategy is in place to ensure timely administration of second doses within four to twelve weeks after the first shot.

The health official explained that no COVID-19 vaccine has an expiration date longer than six months and manufacturers may need to make changes due to evolving situations.
