DOH seeks FDA approval for 4th COVID-19 vaccine dose

The Department of Health (DOH) has applied to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for an amended emergency use authorization (EUA) to include a fourth dose of COVID-19 vaccines for senior citizens and immunocompromised individuals.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire stated that the DOH is awaiting FDA's decision before discussing possible implementation.

Vaccine Expert Panel (VEP) member Dr. Rontgene Solante noted that a fourth dose may only be necessary for elderly and immunocompromised groups, not younger populations.
