DOH reports 906 more Omicron BA.5 subvariant cases

The Philippines has detected 906 additional cases of the Omicron BA.5 subvariant of COVID-19.

At least 10 individuals from various regions, except Northern Mindanao, Davao Region, Soccsksargen, Caraga, and Bangsamoro region, have tested positive for BA.5.

The breakdown shows that the highest number of cases are in Western Visayas with 265 cases, followed by NCR with 127 cases.

Of the total cases, 682 individuals are fully vaccinated, while 40 cases' vaccination status is still being verified.

There are also 11 additional BA.4 cases and seven BA.2.12.1 cases detected across different regions.
