DOH: PH logs 233 new COVID-19 cases, active tally drops

The DOH recorded 233 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, bringing the total to 3,682,083 and active cases to 25,134.

Recoveries increased to 3,597,058 while deaths rose to 59,891.

The National Capital Region had the highest number of cases in the last two weeks with 1,320 followed by Regions 4-A and 3.

On Tuesday, the Philippines reported a new low for daily cases this year at 205, previously recorded on April 5.

Active cases stood at 26,256 while recoveries climbed to 3,595,817 and deaths rose to 59,778.

DOH Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire noted a plateau in new infections with an average of 271 cases per day for the week of April 5-11.

The positivity rate dropped to 1.6% from last week's 1.8%, and health system capacity remains at low risk.
