DOH logs 195 new COVID-19 cases; active infections lowest this year

On Thursday, May 19, the Philippines reported 195 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total to 3,688,295.

Active cases decreased to 2,139, marking the lowest number this year.

Recoveries increased to 3,625,704 while deaths remained at 60,452.

The National Capital Region had the most infections in the past two weeks with 915 cases, followed by Regions 4-A and 3.

Testing labs reported that 22,677 individuals were tested on May 18.

Bed occupancy rate was at 16.9% with 5,271 beds occupied out of 25,900 available.

The DOH warned another surge could occur if a new variant enters the country or vaccine immunity wanes.
