Philippines logs 9.9% increase in daily COVID-19 cases

From May 16 to May 22, the Philippines recorded an average of 173 new daily COVID-19 cases, a 9.9% increase from the previous week.

The Department of Health reported six deaths and 14 severe or critical cases during this period.

As of Sunday, total active cases stood at 2,252 with recoveries reaching 3,623,234 and deaths totaling 60,455.

Experts warn of a potential surge due to the detection of Omicron subvariants BA.4 and BA.2.12.1 in the country.
