Diokno sworn in as BSP Monetary Board member

Former Finance Secretary Benjamin Diokno took his oath as a member of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas' (BSP) Monetary Board on Saturday.

During a Palace press briefing following the appointment of Ralph Recto as Finance Secretary, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced that Diokno would return to his position at BSP after declining a role in managing the Maharlika Investment Fund.

Diokno expressed confidence in Recto's ability to continue the work he started and praised the Philippine economy's 7.6 percent GDP growth in 2022 under his leadership as Finance Secretary.

Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman commended Diokno for guiding the Philippine economy through challenging times, crediting him as 'the guiding light of the Philippine Economic Team.'

Diokno also shared that he will have more time to pursue personal and professional goals after taking on this new role at BSP.
