DOJ: Sebastian's death won't affect De Lima drug case

The death of Jaybee Sebastian, a high-profile inmate who was set to testify against Senator Leila de Lima in drug-related cases, will not significantly impact the DOJ's prosecution strategy.

DOJ Secretary Menardo Guevarra stated that Sebastian's loss does not affect the overall strategy of the prosecution.

Sebastian had claimed he collected money from drug lords in New Bilibid Prison to fund De Lima's senatorial run in 2013, but her lawyer Boni Tacardon says this will not alter the cases against her.

De Lima maintains that all testimonies against her are fabricated and that Sebastian’s death might remove one such fabrication.
