Davao City urges vax after 6 Covid deaths

Davao City's government renewed its call for residents to get vaccinated after six Covid-related deaths were recorded from August 7-13.

Of these deaths, two were unvaccinated and three had only received the first dose; one was fully vaccinated but without a booster shot.

Dr. Michelle Schlosser, city task force spokesperson, emphasized that vaccines protect against severe or critical cases of Covid-19 which can lead to death.

Separately, DOH-11 reported 628 new cases in Davao Region from August 1-7, with three severe and critical cases and eleven deaths; majority involved unvaccinated individuals.

DOH-11 assistant regional director Dr. Gerna Manatad called for increased vaccination rates, especially among vulnerable groups, and highlighted the PinasLakas campaign to bring vaccines closer to communities.
