DA: Duterte approves in principle hike in pork imports

President Duterte has approved in principle increasing the minimum access volume (MAV) for pork imports to address supply shortages caused by African Swine Fever.

The Department of Agriculture plans to triple pork imports from 54,000 metric tons to 388,790 metric tons this year.

Imports beyond MAV quotas will face a higher tariff rate of 40%, while those within the quota pay a lower rate.
