DA, NHA sign MoU for Kadiwa ng Pangulo in government housing

The Department of Agriculture (DA) and the National Housing Authority (NHA) signed a memorandum of understanding to establish Kadiwa ng Pangulo stores in select government housing projects, ensuring greater access to affordable goods.

This initiative aims to improve Filipinos' access to affordable food by integrating sustainable food systems into housing communities, emphasizing economic stability for residents.

Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel highlighted the importance of this collaboration as a concrete response to current agricultural and economic challenges, stating that providing homes is essential but true community development must also include sustainable food systems, livelihood opportunities, and economic stability.

The partnership is expected to enhance livelihood opportunities for farmers while providing more accessible and cheaper food options in government housing projects, with the Rice-for-All (RFA) program offering rice at ₱33 per kilo and a special rate of ₱29 per kilo for vulnerable sectors.

NHA General Manager Joeben Tai expressed support for President Marcos Jr.'s administration's food security programs, noting that the MOU will help improve residents' daily lives by providing logistical and technical support to set up KNP stores across NHA projects nationwide.
