DOH distributes 25k of 100k COVID-19 test kits, Duque urges precaution

DOH has distributed around 25,000 out of 100,000 available COVID-19 test kits to five subnational laboratories in the Philippines.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said these labs will receive the kits within a day or two.

Vergeire added that RITM has committed to clearing testing backlogs within three days, allowing results within 24 to 48 hours.

Meanwhile, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III advised Filipinos with symptoms to assume they have COVID-19 and take precautions without waiting for test results.

The DOH plans to purchase additional compatible test kits as donations alone are insufficient for the country's testing needs.
