Brownlee may skip PBA cup, plays for Gilas

Barangay Ginebra coach Tim Cone confirmed that import Justin Brownlee will play for Gilas Pilipinas in the upcoming FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers but remains uncertain about his participation in the PBA Commissioner's Cup.

Brownlee, who led Barangay Ginebra to a finals appearance in the Governors' Cup, needs rest after playing consistently since February and has no backup plan or alternative import if he decides to take a break.

Cone acknowledged that it is unfair for Brownlee to have such a demanding schedule but emphasized that the decision is ultimately up to him.

Meanwhile, Meralco has chosen Panamanian standout Akil Mitchell as its reinforcement for the Commissioner's Cup, which begins on November 27.

Teams are taking advantage of import height limits with Terrafirma fielding Ryan Richards and NorthPort signing Kavell Bigby-Williams.
