Cometa scores 23, Blazers beat Chiefs 100-77

Cebuano guard Gab Cometa led the College of St. Benilde Blazers to a decisive 100-77 victory over the Arellano Chiefs in the NCAA Season 100 men's basketball tournament on Wednesday.

Cometa, who prefers coming off the bench, scored a career-high 23 points and was instrumental in limiting turnovers to just 11 compared to their previous game where they committed 24.

Coach Charles Tiu emphasized the importance of ball control after the team's earlier loss to Arellano, noting that better handling of the basketball contributed significantly to this win.

The Blazers improved their record to nine wins in 11 games and maintained a full-game lead over second-place Mapua Cardinals with efficient playmaking (22 assists) and strong rebounding (60 rebounds).

Troy Valencia led Arellano with 25 points, but the Chiefs struggled despite adjustments made by their coach, resulting in an eighth loss this season.

Cometa's performance was highlighted as he scored 17 points in the first half to build an early lead for the Blazers.
